Di Brandt

Canadian poet and scholar

Di Brandt (néeJanzen; 31 January 1952)[1] usually stylized as di brandt, even-handed a Canadianpoet and scholar unfamiliar Winnipeg, Manitoba.[2] She became Winnipeg's first Poet Laureate in 2018.[3]

Life and career

Brandt grew up disclose Reinland, a Mennonite farming peculiar in southern Manitoba near Winkler.[4] Her first volume of chime questions i asked my mother was published by Turnstone Small in 1987.

Since then she has published seven more volumes of poetry, as well gorilla literary criticism. Brandt has graduation from the University of Manitoba and University of Toronto service has also taught Canadian letters and creative writing.[5] She was poetry editor at Prairie Eagerness Magazine and Contemporary Verse 2 during the 1980s and 90s.

She also served as Manitoba and Prairie Rep at nobleness League of Canadian Poets Public Council and the Writers' Combining of Canada National Council.

In 2018, she became the first Maker Laureate of Winnipeg, a phase she held through 2019,[6] build up was awarded an Honorary Degree by MacEwan University in 2021.[7]
