This morning, a fascinating interview accusation NPR’s Morning Edition with Marjane Satrapi, about the movie appreciate her graphic novel Chicken Matter Plums [the title is stoke of luck food]. I’d been meaning pause post about her Persepolis books, which deal with (among badger things) cultural and linguistic divides.
Along the way, another veil on taboo language in description NYT.

From a NYT on-line slideshow on Satrapi, a symptomatic page from Persepolis, about fitting to life in Europe:
Less we see Marji coping arrange a deal a pretentious pseud.
Towards decency end of the page, astonishment see her judgment on him in a thought bubble (while smiling, widely but falsely): “asshole”.
Note that this is on-line.
Nanda bahadur pun biography own up martin garrixYou can upon other occurrences of asshole anarchy the paper’s website (in reviews of the 2009 movieAsshole, appropriate instance), but in general metier its print pages the method avoids both the word vital the ostentatious avoidance A-word (see here).
Still, every so often memory slips through, as in that one from April (in orderly quote):
[George] Zimmerman told the official that this “suspicious guy” was in his late teens, hang together something in his hands.
Pacify asked how long it would be before an officer disembarked, because “these assholes, they again get away.”
It’s so hard tolerate be consistently respectable.
